Full-service marketing communications firm celebrates team successes amidst rapid growth

TORONTO, January 24, 2017 – Broad Reach Communications is delighted to announce the promotion of Daina Astwood-George to account director. Astwood-George joined the firm in April 2016 as a senior account manager, and quickly demonstrated her aptitude for client service, writing and leadership. She also expressed a keen interest in the company’s marketing, organizational development, team building, and learning and growth initiatives, and now drives Broad Reach’s overarching corporate culture strategy.

“I consider myself very lucky to be able to leverage all of my strengths in one role. Very few companies give their employees the freedom to pursue their professional passions with such autonomy and support, and very few are this much fun,” said Astwood-George. “I’m happy to be playing a significant role in shaping Broad Reach’s strong culture of excellence, client care and professional development, and to be keeping the industry abreast of our work.”

Katie Skinner was also welcomed to the Broad Reach team in January as a senior account manager. Skinner, a seasoned corporate communications professional with widespread experience leading marketing and social media programs, will devise and execute strategic plans for a variety of clients in the corporate, financial and not-for-profit sectors. Her background also includes work in the energy and construction industries, as well as a role with the Atlantic Council of Canada as program editor for Canada’s NATO. Skinner’s rich work history lends itself well to many of the firms existing and upcoming projects.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join Broad Reach at this stage of its evolution. It became clear to me almost immediately that this is an organization that prioritizes the wellbeing and personal growth of its employees, and I feel lucky to be a part of that at the onset,” said Skinner. “I look forward to working closely with this team and with our clients to uphold the exceptional standards upon which Broad Reach has built its reputation.”

Earlier this month, Broad Reach also announced the promotion of Danielle Scott from account coordinator to consultant. Scott joined the company in November 2015, and has showcased a flair for media relations, social media and influencer engagement that has greatly contributed to the firm’s success over the past 13 months. As a consultant, she will continue to play a vital role in executing national marketing communications campaigns, managing online communities, driving and analyzing social media and influencer programs, and taking part in strategic planning.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate so many major successes in such a short period, and feel that these recent changes are a clear indication that something exciting is happing at Broad Reach,” said Andrea Lekushoff, president, Broad Reach Communications. “Our firm is growing rapidly and this transformation is a reflection of our strong team. Daina, Katie and Danielle are instrumental in setting us apart from our competitors, and are helping to shape a work environment that continues to attract the Canadian PR industry’s top talent.”

Astwood-George, who holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Philosophy from Queen’s University, as well as a Public Relations Postgraduate Certificate from Humber College, has worked with many global companies spanning the corporate, technology and consumer sectors over the course of her extensive career. Skinner joins Broad Reach with a Master’s degree in International Development with a focus on mediation from the University of Edinburgh, and has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and French from Wilfrid Laurier University. Scott, who joined Broad Reach having worked in the consumer, non-profit and retail sectors, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Popular Culture from Brock University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Relations from Humber College.
